Small Talk Six – Family
Want to join in? Go here to learn how and to view the weekly Small Talk Six topics for 2009 & 2010.
Today’s topic is “6 things you love or hate about spending time with your or your significant other’s relatives.” You can answer this with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, 6 photos, 6 videos, etc . . .
This is hard and simple all at the same time. I love both sides and have things that drive me nuts. As I am sure most of you feel the same way.
1. I dislike how my Aunt always knows how to turn a family event in disaster when she shows up. She is a very unhappy person.
2. I love the fact that both sets of parents love their grandchildren unconditionally.
3. It would be nice if both sets of parents could tolerate being in the same room for holidays.
4. I hate the alternating thing for holidays – one year at the inlaws, one year at my parents. I wish we could all just wing it.
5. I hate that for Christmas that I am expected to pack up the 7 of us to go elsewhere instead of the two of them coming to us.
6. I love my family and know they love us!
Now go post your own list on your blog (don’t forget to grab a button) and then leave the direct link to your post on Mr. Linky. I think every family has an “Aunt” – but sometimes it makes for an action packed event.

I always feel sorry for people like your aunt.
Have a great Saturday!

It really is hard trying to fit everyone in… we have 4 to pack up and go everywhere.

I agree with #6. It is like that here too.

I know what you mean about alternating each year. It gets hard sometimes.

My mom can not get along with my MIL either. I wish she would. It would make things SO much easier.

Yeah, my In Laws expect us to drive TWO counties away on Christmas Eve, wait to open presents at MIDNIGHT (with a young child, mind you), leave to go home (we get back to our house around 4 am) and be back up there at 11AM Christmas Day for “leftovers”!!
Uh, yeah. I kind of hate Christmas with my In Laws. This year I have the added hell of my own crazy mother living in my FIL’s house.
Bah Humbug.

I totally agree with #4 it’s hard during the holidays, especially packing the kids up as they get tired and just want to stay home and play with their toys and new stuff from Santa…
