About The Pretty Peacock:The most amazing gift I have ever received was this little book of poems my then boyfriend, now husband, wrote for me when we started dating in college (a mere fourteen years ago!!). I have spent years to find a piece of jewelry worthy enough to engrave just one of his poems on – I had no luck.
Now, I am not going to say that this is how I started designing jewelry (that’s just far too romantic!), but my need to have those words immortalized on something that I could carry with me and have as a touchstone, a tangible memory of that time in our lives, a little treasure that was deeply personal to me, is why I design the type of jewelry that I do. In my mind, jewelry should not just be a bauble that matches the outfit of the day, it should be something that evokes emotion, conversation…something that allows you to think about your surroundings and your very being.
I grew up in an East Indian household and spent my earlier years denying how much of the Indian culture is a part of me. Now that I am in my 30s, I embrace it – and notice how much of my design work is influenced by my rich heritage.
The Pretty Peacock first emerged into existence as a way to feed a creative soul. It has now evolved into a passion to design pieces that celebrate our loved ones, special moments – the most important aspects of life that make it our own. Each piece of jewelry is designed and created with great care, pride and lots of good juju! You will be able to feel the difference.

I am so excited about this product. It is uncomplicated and simple to use. The Picture Keeper is a flash drive of sorts that saves photos. I am very impressed with this product. Check out the video below to see how easy it is to use. This video shows what this product is all about. You will be amazed (as I am).
About Picture Keeper:When a close friend lost all of her digital images during a lightning storm, inspiration struck Matthew Stanchie. With a background in technology, and as a father of two young children himself, he felt for the young mother who lost every image she had ever taken of
her 2-year-old son. He thought that there should be a simple, fool-proof way to backup digital images, so he created Picture Keeper.
Stanchie has held positions at Hewlett-Packard, IBM and GE, where he helped develop IT solutions for everyday consumers. He developed a standard approach for troubleshooting any type of computer problem, which always involved an external backup of data and images before he began. He took this initial step to ensure the safety of clients’ personal data in case the issue couldn’t be resolved. After 15 years in this line of work, he had a keen understanding of how and where image backups were being used. So, he partnered with a co-worker from Hewlett-Packard who specialized in data backup, Lee Devlin, and they began to develop Picture Keeper. They developed the program so that users need only plug the device into their computer and hit one button, which finds and copies all of their images onto a USB flash drive. Simplicity was key, since they knew that most consumers’ concerns were over the timely and taxing process of finding images on a computer. The Picture Keeper program makes it equally easy to update a backup by finding only new images since the last backup and adding those images to the flash drive. From experience, Stanchie and Devlin knew if it wasn’t simple, people wouldn’t use it. Since launching Picture Keeper in 4GB and 8GB sizes in 2008, hundreds have sold nationwide directly from the manufacturer to consumers. A 16GB version will be released in Fall 2009.
Isn’t it amazing how easy it is to use? I absolutely love this product and its price is very affordable ($29.99 – $59.99).

Many working moms need to be creative when spending time with their children. So here are some great tips and ideas that you can use when spending time with your them.
If your daughter is older try spending some time volunteering at an animal shelter. You can walk the dogs. This is an awesome way to leave technology at home. Use this time to talk with your child and get to know each other. Not to mention you both are getting some great exercise as well.
Here is a wonderful idea for spending time with your child – try setting your alarm 15 minutes early and use this time as cuddle time. Curl up in bed with your child and use this time to talk about plans for the day or whatever else is on your minds. This is great one-on-one time and could become a great ritual in your home. This fun time may not work with an older boy as cuddle time might not be cool for them.
Take a few hours on the weekend to prepare dinners that can be frozen and then heated later during the week for meals. Some parents often have to work late and this is a great idea to have some homemade dinners ready to go for those days where mom can be home to cook. Not to mention you are teaching your child how to cook and use this time to talk and see how they are doing and what is going on in their lives.
Here is a simple activity that you can do with your child – take walks. This is a great way to get some exercise together and to talk. Don’t forget to leave your cell phones at home so that there are no distractions. You can do this with your younger children as well. There is no age limit on this activity. If you have more then one child, try talking walks individually. This gives them the one-on-one time that kids crave.
Have s ‘yes’ day with your child. Do whatever your child wants (within reason of course). Allow them to choose the meals, read to her, see a movie, go mini golfing, a trip to the mall. Whatever they want to do – just say yes. This will give you both a nice break from the everyday routine.
The key to all of these activities is to just have fun! No need for boring treadmills with all of these fun activities.
Do you have an idea that all of us could do to spend time with our children? If so, please leave it in the comments below. We could all use some new ideas to keep life fun with children.
