Toxins Found in Kid’s Bath Products

toxinsAs we all know children’s bath products are supposed to be safe. That is the way they are marketed. Recently, I watched the news and come to find out to serious toxins are in some of the most popular children’s bath products:

  • **Dioxane – probable carcinogen
  • **Formaldehyde – probable carcinogen, can cause adverse skin reactions in those sensitive to the chemical

Imagine your child taking a bath and you use these products which in turn get into the water. The bath water will always get ingested to some degree. This the chemical is ingested.

Here is a more indepth article from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics http://www.ewg.org/report/toxic-tub/31209. They tested 48 products and 61% came back and tested postive for both Dioxane and Formaldehyde.

I have always worried about things like this and over a year ago I started using an all natural, organic body wash/shampoo for my children. If you are interested here is the product I have been using Top n’ Bottom shampoo and body wash.

I will only use all natural products for my son (and for me, as much as I can).

You know what kind of product is very difficult to find that is SAFE for INFANTS and small children? Sunscreen. When we went to Myrtle Beach when my son was only 8 months old, I was determined to spend the time on the beach and not cooped up in the condo. This meant finding a sunscreen I would feel 100% comfortable using on my son.

I searched the internet high and low and finally found: Badger Balm! Their sunscreen is BY FAR the best (and most safe) sunscreen I have ever found and use. I will NEVER use anything else for our entire family. Here is a link to the sunscreen: http://tinyurl.com/ah9vpo

All of their products are as great as the sunscreen.

Another great, all natural company is California Baby, who recently began selling at select Target stores.

A great resource on all cosmetics, not just baby products is the website: Skin Deep (http://tinyurl.com/df4f83) It is a WEALTH of information on every kind of cosmetic and all the ingredients and side effects.

I kinda knew about this stuff but didn’t really put much thought into the fact that it’s in our children’s products too. Thank you for sharing this. I wanted to let you know I included a link to this post in my Around the Blogosphere post today. :)

That is incredible! I’m so thankful that the blogging world is sharing info on these facts. All these years we never knew what we were subjecting our kids bodies to. Thanks
