Oh how nice. Both my home state and my current state of residence made the cut.
I wonder how the stats are compiled. Is Alaska the rape capital in raw numbers, or per capita?
Quite depressing, either way.
March 23rd, 2009 at 3:39 pm
Yeah, I was wondering if that was per capita.
Florida’s numbers center around Orlando and Miami for the most part. I’d hazard a guess that this is the same for most states-a couple of cities skew the numbers for the rest of the state.

Good to see my state isn’t up there!
March 23rd, 2009 at 10:19 pm
Very excited that Ohio didn’t make the list! Probably only the good thing about this state.
March 23rd, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Thank goodness MN isn’t on that list! Quite amazing compilation though!

Our city, Sydney in Australia has lately being hit my bikie gangs, drive by shootings, and bashing at our airport from again a bikie gang (the victim did die). All this in 5 days.

Scary stuff. They reported some time ago that when you visit Las Vegas, your chances of committing suicide can increase. Any connection with Nevada being the most dangerous?
March 24th, 2009 at 8:20 am
I just read on the web yesterday where bike gang members killed an individual in an airport there.

As a resident of Missouri I have to come to its defense! Most of that comes from the St. Louis City area.
We are the biggest Meth producers in the country too. I hate that fact!

Whoa, I would have never thought my home state NC and my birth state SC would have been in the top 20. Especially disturbed SC is #3. I have many loved ones there.
March 26th, 2009 at 1:31 am
Well of course New Hampshire has the lowest crime rate. That’s where Jeb Barlett was from. (any West Wing fans out there)
March 26th, 2009 at 1:34 am
I knew we would be on there…#17
March 26th, 2009 at 3:07 am
Sad, my state is #18. NC doesn’t seem that bad to me.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:50 am
And our quiet little state of Maine isn’t listed! Hooray!
March 26th, 2009 at 10:12 am
Wow that is disturbing news.
March 27th, 2009 at 12:28 am
I’m in NC too. However my section of the state is a high crime area. Property theft, drugs and murder seem to be in the news daily.

i would think NY would be on there guess not lol
April 19th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
That makes 20 straight years that Louisiana has the highest per capita murder rate of any state.
April 30th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
My state is ranked #4 this year, up from #3 last year.
Does anybody out there contribute foreigners in our nation illegally to these crimes ?
According to figures compiled by The U.S. Government Accountability Office, that more Americans have been murdered by illegal foreigners in our nation since 2001, than have died on 9/11 and in Iraq COMBINED !
This report was made in 2006, so I believe the figure is higher now.
These figures do not include the untold number of American men, women and children that have been raped, assaulted and robbed by these illegal foreigners !
Our 4 border states are in the top 15 ! WAKE UP AMERICA !

Regarding CQ Press’ most dangerous states they stated that Nevada was the most dangerous for the last 6 years, while the fact that Louisiana has the highest per capita murder rate (1989-2008)the last 20 years of any state isn’t stated by CQ Press for some reason when you consider how alarming that 100% fact is.

I’m glad to see my state New York is not on that list.
